Cherry Blossom season is upon us here in Japan! It started late last week, while today and tomorrow will likely be the peak days around Tokyo. I was a bit concerned after we had much rain and wind yesterday, but thankfully the blossoms were very early in their progression and managed to hang on. I’ve been running all over the place trying to catch what I can of them while the weather is good. The first day that were really starting to bloom, I headed over to Shinjuku Park, which is full of a number of different types of Sakura. This particular tree is the normal Somei Yoshino type, but it was much earlier along than almost any other tree in the park. This, of course, means it was getting a lot of attention from visitors. But I waited my turn and got this shot which I really enjoy. It’s almost like looking up at a large wave of blossoms coming in.

Thanks! That is too bad but there is plenty to enjoy in Japan at any time! Will you be in the Tokyo area? If so you should check out the Hitachi Seaside Park in Ibaraki Prefecture.
