Shiraito Waterfall in Nagano Japan
During my Autumn photography trip this year, I got to take an afternoon trip to Shiraito Falls in Nagano Prefecture. This shouldn’t be confused with the Shiraito Falls in Shizuoka Prefecture, as they’re completely different locations relatively far away from each other (although both are beautiful). The Shiraito Waterfall in Nagano is actually a unique type of waterfall. With most waterfalls, a river reaches a cliff where it tumbles over and continues the river below....
Mt Mitake Rock Garden
I think this may be my favorite photo from my recent hike around Mt. Mitake. It took me a while to get around to the best parts of the rock garden (ロックガーデン) as I spent a lot of time at Nanayo waterfall and other areas earlier on in the hike. As you might imagine, after an early morning and many hours of hiking, it was nice to reach such a quiet, calm spot like this....
Autumn On The Rocks
Over the course of this year, I’ve been trying to transition my photographic work more into the realm of nature. Although I do many kinds of photography, ultimately this is where I’d like to focus, along with some travel photography as well. Of course, Tokyo isn’t exactly rife with nature, and not having a car currently, it can make it difficult to find good places for that kind of work. There is, however, one area...
Movement of Shiraito Falls
Today’s photo comes from the lovely Shiraito Falls in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. I posted several photos from this waterfall several months ago, but I had a lot of work to do on this one before it would be ready for sharing. The main reason it took so much processing is that I didn’t expose for the shot as I should have. Check out the three exposures I used for today’s photo: As you can see,...
Beneath The Pensacola Beach Pier
I’ve been going through some old photos lately and came across this one that I’m pretty sure I haven’t shared before. I took this in 2011, not long after my interest in photography had been rekindled. My Nikon D7000 was only a few months old, and I had just purchased my first super wide angle lens – the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. At the time I was living in Pensacola, Florida, so I headed over to...
