Ferns of Kamakura

I mentioned in my previous post about taking a trip down to Enoshima last week with fellow photographer Anthony Wood. We had actually made the trip for Kamakura, but Enoshima is just a quick train ride away so we went there for a good part of the afternoon. During our time in Kamakura, while exploring one of the many temples in the area, we came across these ferns that caught my attention. I’ve never really been a person to shoot much plant life (other than, of course, the Cherry Blossoms in the Spring) but something about the fresh, bright green of these, mixed with the lovely lighting, found me taking several different photos of them. It probably also helped that I had watched a photography session with Bill Fortney some time in the past, and I remembered him stopping to shoot some ferns, which made for some lovely shots. Regardless, I liked these three in particular, and while it’s probably not the highlight of Kamakura, sometimes taking in the little things is worth it.
