Beautiful Cherry Blossom tree in Japan

The Sakura Big One

Cherry Blossom season is upon us here in Japan! It started late last week, while today and tomorrow will likely be the peak days around Tokyo. I was a bit concerned after we had much rain and wind yesterday, but thankfully the blossoms were very early in their progression and managed to hang on. I’ve been running all over the place trying to catch what I can of them while the weather is good. The...

Blue Night Rainbow Bridge

Last night I got together with a friend who lives near me to take some photos around Odaiba in Tokyo. Odaiba offers some fantastic views of Tokyo Bay and the lovely Rainbow Bridge. This is a shot I grabbed while we were out there. It was a really great night – the weather was absolutely fantastic, with clear visibility, but few crowds to speak of. Of course, with bullet trains, at least to me, you want to show the movement of the train. It’s part of what makes them so interesting! In order to do that, you can use a process called “panning” which I used to take...

Skytree Silhouette

Having seen a bunch of photos from the Arakawa River in Tokyo, I decided to take a trip down one evening and capture my own shots of the Skytree at dusk. The evening colors were fantastic, and gave me quite a few pictures I enjoy. This one was a very interesting shot though. The buildings were all quite dark already, but I thought it would be interesting to darken them all the way so it...
