I’ve been sitting on this shot since I took it last September while hiking around Mt. Mitake. I did an edit a while back on my iPad, and I liked it, but I thought I could do better, so I gave it a go in Photoshop over the last week or so. A lot of subtle but important edits went into this image, primarily centered around coloring and lighting. Most of the coloring edits were done on a blank top later in overlay blend mode, while the lighting edits were on a blank top layer in soft light blend mode. This allowed me to adjust things precisely, and essentially paint in elements where I saw fit. Due to the weather at the time I reached this point, the lighting wasn’t especially dynamic, but edits like these can help make it appear at least a little more so.
